From 1 July, Pawel Paczkowski is officially a Veszprém player. We asked the Polish right back about his move to his new home.
You are now officially the player of Telekom Veszprém. Are you excited for the season ahead of us?
Of course, I am excited. It is a big thing to play here for every player and we know why we are here. We are excited to go back on track with the team.
How did you see your last season in Motor Zaporozhye?
It was a very good season until my injury. Before that, I played in a good level and I did not have many bad games that I am disappointed about. I am always looking at myself very critically and I am trying to do better and better but I think my last season was quite good.
How was your farewell from your last team?
We got a goodbye party like very year and we said goodbye with no hard feelings. It was quite good.
How is your knee after your serious injury?
It is good, if I can say that. I am getting better and better. I am working hard on getting back stronger, that is my goal and I know that I can achieve this. I am positive about myself. I am almost four months after surgery, but it is hard to predict how much longer will it take. I think two, two and a half months and I should be ready to 100%.
What are your first impressions of Hungary?
It is a very nice country, with very nice places, that I have not visited yet. I could visit Budapest a month ago when I was here and I am impressed. Even the area of Veszprém is really nice, with many mountains and the Balaton is near also. There are a lot of forests, and I really like nature. I think Hungary is a beautiful country.
The team goes to training camp at the end of July and then plays some preparation games. What do you expect from those matches and the preseason?
For myself, it is to get better and better after four months, and in the remaining two months I will be working very hard to do everything I can to recover the best possible. So about me, just these boring stuff. For the team, as always in preparation, the results of the games are not important. The main goal is that the new players get to know each other and the system of playing. I guess this is the goal of the coaching staff. It is going to be a hard period with the physical works and the trainings and the games but we know that in every team, every year, this is the most difficult period of time.
What would you like to achieve with the team in the next season?
I want to win everything. This is a big Club, with big ambitions and I would like to win every possible trophy we play in. I know that it is going to be difficult, but if we work hard and give everything, it is possible. We are all ambitious players and we want to win everything that is coming our way.
