Congratulations to your 400th game in Veszprém jersey! You even played your 402nd game as well, which means that you are Veszprém’s foreign player who stepped on the court the most in this team. This puts you on the 10th position in the history of the Club, surpassing Nándor Fazekas.
What does this milestone mean to you?
First of all, I did not know that this number was so big, I did not feel it. Time is going so fast. When Dávid (team photographer – the author) told me I was thinking, 400 is sometimes too much. This many game is really something. I am proud of that.
What do you think, how could you reach this great number?
I did not feel that this number was so high because I never count the games. I always prepare for a game like it is the first. This is why the time is going so fast. I am trying to be ready for every game like it is the first and the last.
What does it take a foreign player to play so many games in one team in such high level?
Veszprém as a Club is growing year by year. Since I came here, we took one step ahead every year. For me, to be in Veszprém is a huge motivation and I know that those who are not here, wish they would be here. It is very good to play here. To reach 400 games as a foreigner, unbelievable.
If you have to highlight 3 of the most memorable games you had here, what would those be?
I cannot say that those 14 minutes were the bests in my life, but I will never forget the Champions League final against Kielce. It is not a good memory but I will never forget it. Of course, every Final4 is important for me. Every Szeged game is important; every one of them is like a final. There is a lot of games to remember.
You are going to play your 403rd game this Saturday in the Hungarian derby against Szeged. You played on a lot of these, how do you feel about that game?
Games against Szeged, regardless of competition, is always special and different from the others. To play in Szeged is very hard because they are a motivated team, especially against us. They are a really good team. We are going to prepare to this game with respect. Naturally in our home, we do not think about anything else, just to win the match.
How do you see the form of our biggest Hungarian opponent? What does it take to beat them for the second time this season?
We must be better than them. (Laughs) Like I said Szeged is a good team and we have to be good in defense. I think we are better individually and as a group in offense. We have to score as much easy goals as possible. The first thing is good defense, because I am there and I will try to do my best. Every game can build up from defense, and that is how we would like to play.
Turning back to your time in Veszprém, you are living here since 2009. What do you like the most about it?
The Club. The best thing about this city is our Club really. Like I said, every professional player would love to play here. The city is small but it has a big soul because of the people. I can say, that people from Hungary respect, love and enjoy watching handball. Everything is easier for me and my family because I am a handball player. It is nice to be here.
Thank you for the chat, we wish you many more games and trophies in Veszprém colors!
Thank you!
