Interview with Isaias Guardiola

There are still some questions left but we are happy to announce that Isaias Guardiola (31) from France is going to debut in Veszprém next Tuesday in the SEHA League game against Skopje. He is going to stay in Veszprém until June 30. Due to Christian Zeitz’s serious injury, the right back can be a part of the ‘temporary’ team for 17 games, according to the latest agreement.

 

 

Unfortunate beginning

 

Guardiola arrived in Veszprém this Monday – without his suitcase. So he saw the team’s SEHA League match in a surprising summer outfit wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and sneakers.

“I departed from France at 4 pm, my suitcase went missing during the transfer but fortunately I have already received it” – the two-time Champions League runner-up informed our colleague at Telekom Sports News Service. “I hope I will experience positive things after this occasion “ – the 2-meter tall handball player added.

 

He introduced himself to the coach of MVM Veszprém Javier Sabaté on the day of his arrival and he was warmly welcomed by Chéma Rodriguez with whom he played in Ciudad Real, then in Atlético Madrid in the final of CL.

 

 

He looks up to László Nagy

 

“Many things make my stay and integration much easier including that Spanish professionals lead the team and there are players here from my previous teams and also there are some players who speak my mother tongue well like László Nagy whom I personally find one of the best handball players in the world.” – said our new player who has played in 6 teams within 12 years.

 

Guardiola is aware of that he has to prove his talent in new circumstances within 4 months and that he has to adopt to his new teammates’ tactics. In addition, he seems open about extending his contract for a longer period.

 

“It’s too early to talk about it since I haven’t even played on the court of Veszprém. In sports, however, everything can happen. I hope I’m going to have a good start next Tuesday and get more chances to play.” – said Isaias Guardiola who recalled memories from the Champions League final and added that although Barcelona won in Cologne, Veszprém could have every chance to gain victory as well.
