Gasper Marguc has gladly committed himself to MVM Veszprém until 2020
Two years ago, along with Máté Lékai, Gasper Marguc left Celje and signed for Veszprém. He had been one of the most successful scorers of the Champions League and now has become the top player on the CL participant team’s own scoring list. Not to mention that he overtook two-time CL scoring champion, Momir Ilic. The 25-year old right wing, who has scored a total of 174 goals in international and national games, has committed himself to MVM Veszprém by extending his contract for an unusually long period of time.
“I gladly signed the contract and I would like to thank the team for reaching agreement so quickly. Before I came here, several teams wanted me to sign for them but I chose Veszprém because I felt that I would be able to improve here the most. The fact that Máté Lékai could still remain my teammate helped me make the decision and it was really important in the period of my integration. – said one of Veszprém’s favourite players, Gasper Marguc to Telekom Sports News Service after extending his contract for four more years.
Marguc was a part of Champions League runner-up team last year and he thinks they will manage to get to the best 4 again.
“We cannot compare that achievement with the techniques we have to come up with in the Final Four in Cologne so I would say that we have our ability and will to make our dream come true.” – he said and added that they are still facing a big challenge.
He is proud that he turned out to be the first on the team’s scoring list but he emphasised that Momir Ilic has scored 20 goals more than he has in the CL so far.
“It doesn’t matter who scores more in the team, the more important thing is that how we can work as a real team and how we can perform better and better. As any of our big rivals, we also have bad days but our performance is getting more stable.” – added Gasper Marguc who is among the short players in the team but whose strength and endurance is unquestionable.
