In the following, you can read the statement of our copresident Gábor Kálomista made by vehirsport.hu.
“Negotiations with MVM Zrt. (Ltd) have been finished and the company remains our sponsor. Hereby we would like to thank everyone for the support and the involvement. We had to renew the valid contract since MKB terminated the sponsorship of our club.
Hungarian Handball Federation is simultaneously taking measures for the new financing system. This can lead to a whole new situation; for us, however, the most important thing is that the team’s condition would end up satisfying. No more financial issues. The team has been stable for three years, has a manageable activity and Ltd provides a fair agency. We would like to keep it in the future; this has been the most essential task for the management as well as the company. It might encourage new sponsors to be involved; we want to let the public opinion and sponsors that have been afraid of the shortcomings of Veszprém know about the new situation. Veszprém is undoubtedly improving and moving towards their aims.
According to the discussions with the Ministry of National Development, Balaton is represented on Veszprém jersey, so the “Hungarian sea” is one of our jersey sponsors from now on. We hope the players can play in it in the upcoming game against Kiel. We all are really keen on Lake Balaton, I’m living there but this, of course, did not influence us in the decision-making. We believe that this is an excellent marketing for the team as well as the country including the whole area of Balaton. All of our matches are broadcast without exception; we play in such part of the continent where the publicity of Balaton might be beneficial. The last Final Four was broadcast in more than 110 countries watched by 130 million people; therefore I’m convinced that the Ministry made the right decision by this agreement.
The team has a coach, namely Javier Sabaté so it is not a current issue. The management, however, wants to find the best solution.
As far as my health is concerned, I can tell that I’m fine even though I couldn’t spend too much time resting but everything is alright, thank God. I’m preparing for the game against Kiel which won’t be too suffering, I hope (laughing).”
