“I always set the biggest targets for myself”

It was announced last Friday that Telekom Veszprém’s team will strengthen by Blaz Blagotinsek, the Slovenian National Team’s giant line player. The 22 year-old player is preparing for the Olympic Games in summer with his National Team and they are having a match against Tunisia. We had a conversation with our new player after the workout in the gym yesterday.

Thank you very much, welcome to everybody!

You have signed your contract by our Club. How did it feel to you?

Everything happened really fast. I am very proud that I could sign to Veszprém. I have always had the dream to certify to a really famous Club and my new Club is always among the 5 best Clubs in Europe from year to year.

What are your goals from the aspect of the team and yourself?

As a player I always set the biggest targets for myself because I think that a player needs expectations from him/herself and that should be the desire to reach the highest level. I would like to get into the CL Final4 and win the coveted trophy with the team but it is also important to win the Hungarian Championship, the Hungarian Cup and the SEHA League.

You have scored 5 goals in the previous season in the Veszprém Arena. How do you recall that match?

Every game played in the Arena was a great experience for me. I like this Arena very much because both the Arena and the fans are very similar to Celje’s. However, the Veszprém fans are a bit different because they know handball extremely well and they also love this Club so they do everything for the team and its players.

You will have two Slovenian teammates in Veszprém, have you spoken with them recently?

Yes, me and Gasper talk to each other every day because we are teammates in the National Team and of course very good friends. I also know Dragan Gajic from the National Team and I have played with Ivan Sliskovic in Celje for a year.

You are training for the Olympic Games with the National Team…

Yes, we are preparing hard for the Olympic Games in Rio and we will have a preparation match against Tunisia on Wednesday. So we have started to deal with the tactic also.

Would you please tell me more about yourself, your hobby and your private life?

I have a lot of hobbies. I like photo shooting, making videos, watching movies, playing video games and cooking. I will move to Veszprém alone as my girlfriend is a professional basketball player in Celje.

As a kind of closure I will ask it from you too, what do you say as message to the Veszprém fans?

I am glad that I got the chance to play in Veszprém. I will do anything to do my best and to fit in the team as soon as possible.
