Hungarian Cup Final Four pregame statements

Bomba! Man’s Handball Hungarian Cup final four will be held in Debrecen this weekend. The first semi-final will be played by MOL-Pick Szeged and Mezőkövesdi KC on Saturday, at noon. MVM Veszprém, on the other hand, will play against Balatonfüred KSE at 2 pm. The bronze match (1:45 pm) and the final (4 pm) will be held on Sunday. Each game will be live broadcast by M4 except for the game for the third place which will be tele-recorded. We asked Coach Xavi Sabaté and Captain László Nagy about the upcoming games.

 

 

Xavi Sabaté: The Hungarian Cup Final Four is always a special tournament during which any of the teams can defeat the others. First we will play against Balatonfüred that is made up of young and talented players, and very experienced ones. I’m sure we have to fight hard to gain victory over them. Only one game will lead to the qualification to the final, it won’t be easy but I hope we can succeed. Szeged and Veszprém are the possible finalists but first everyone has to prove their strength in the semi-finals. I hope many of our fans will visit the games in Debrecen.

 

 

László Nagy: Our main aim is to qualify to the final, then to defend our title. I think a team like Veszprém has to make efforts to make it true. We shouldn’t take victory for granted against any of the teams since Hungary’s four best teams are going to play for victory. The team of Balatonfüred has many young, talented players, many of whom debuted in the adult national team. Their young spirit might cause us some difficulties but we shouldn’t let them surmount us. I expect us to get to the final game and Szeged seems to be our opponent team. And a Veszprém–Szeged game is always a unique one so it would be a hard game as usual. I have great memories of the Főnix Sports Hall in Debrecen, we played there with our national team in front of a full-house. I hope many handball fans will visit the games again making a good atmosphere.
