Telekom Veszprém continued the K&H League as the guests of Grundfos Tatabánya on Tuesday. The home team got the lead, which Strlek immediately equalized from the next attack. Veszprém managed to build three-goals lead by the 7th minute, mostly with Strlek’s and Nenadic’s good plays, 2:5. The latter organized the attack well and scored many goals as well. In the 16th minute, the standing was 6:9. The last ten minutes of the half started with excitement, when Tatabánya came up to two goals, 9:11, but since they made mistakes in attack, the difference quickly grew to five. In the 28th minute, after a great pass by Lékai, Strlek scored again, taking a 11:18 lead. From this, the home team managed to cut back a bit, so the teams went on to the intermission with a 13:18 standing.
 
The second half started with huge Borbély saves, which allowed Tatabánya to come closer in difference. Paczkowski did great in defense, besides his many blocks, he put out good stopping fouls as well. The teams went on high tempo, there was constant running on the court. Around the 13th minute, Cupara replaced Sterbik in goal. The standing in the 45th minute was 21:25. To the last 15 minutes, Hornyák came to the right wing, while Bodor got some time in defense. Veszprém managed to score easy goals in the end of the game and took a 25:32 lead. The seven goals lead did not grow further, and the game saw another confident Veszprém victory. Final result: Tatabánya – Veszprém 26:33
 

David Davis: Tatabánya is always a strong team, and it is hard to play here. Their team is made up of experienced and good players. They know how to defend and to attack. We played well today, in a completely other mentality than against Balatonfüred.
 
Pawel Paczkowski: We knew that our opponent is made up of experienced players. We had to concentrate for 60 minutes, and I think we could succeed in this. There were some mistakes, but in conclusion we performed well.

 

 
Vladan Matic: Congratulations to Veszprém, they deserved the victory. It is a huge honor for us, that they play 100% against us all the time, because it means that we are good. They play in a different tempo from any other teams in the league. Our main goal is to win against Vác, Csurgó and Mezőkövesd, because our goal is to get the third spot in the championship.
 
Ferenc Ilyés: Congratulations to Veszprém, they played well. The upcoming weeks’ games will be more important for us, but made a great impression today, and good effort. It was important that everyone could play.
