The game between Ferencváros and Veszprém was kicked off with the rockets from Tönnesen and Lékai. The home team could only take the pressure for three minutes. The standing in the 8th minute was 3:6 already. The Hungarian champions was guarding their lead in the 15th minute as well, around this time, Moraes and Shishkarev was leading the team at a 7:11 lead. Corrales was about to get warmed up as he saved many clear chances. Attila Horváth called his first time out in the 18th minute. Veszprém clearly dominated the game in the first half, Shishkarev was flawless and the defense was great as well. The „Építők” was leading in the break well deserved 11:19.
 
The game continued with a missed clear chance from Fradi, whereas Veszprém was able to score twice in a row. By the 35th minute, the difference between the parties was 10 goals, 13:23. FTC seemed to be getting tired and made more and more mistakes going into the final part of the second half, both in defense and offense as well. Veszprém managed to get clear shooting chances against 6-0 defense and fastbreaks also. In the last 10 minutes, the „Építők” switched to 5-1 defense, to which Fradi did not have an answer. The mistakes coming from the defensive switch helped Veszprém grow the lead, and finally they beat Ferencváros 28:39 on home court.
 

David Davis: It was a good game today. We played two days ago, and we have a tough week. First we had to show everything in the eight final in the Champions League, then in the Hungarian Cup. I am proud of my team, because it is not easy to get in rhythm after a cup victory. Good luck to FTC because they are just starting the season again.
 
Rodrigo Corrales: I was a hard game because Ferencváros is a great team. It was important that we started well, we needed like 4-5 minutes to really warm up. We started both halves well, and I think this was the key to victory.

 

 
Attila Horváth: Congratulations to Veszprém for today and for the cup victory as well. After two months break we played our first game, we wanted to get into the rhythm and prepare for the game against Komló on Saturday. We are not used to the two games per week rhythm but we agreed to it. We tried to save our power. There were good thing in our play, we have to show it more often. I am satisfied with the team.
 
Timuzsin Schuch: Congratulations to Veszprém for the cup victory and for today. We had some good things, we have to keep them and correct the mistakes. We could rotate the team today a lot. We have to fight in our own league, but today was good for a preparation.
