Foreshadow: Veszprém – Vardar

On Sunday at 20:00 (Hungarian time) Telekom Veszprém plays against Vardar Skopje in the SEHA League Final4's Final. The game is broadcasted live on Digi Sport 1.

 

 

Tough game awaits for Veszprém against Vardar. Both games were difficult for them this season. In the 8th round of the regular season Veszprém lost in Macedonia 29:22. Igor Karacic and Momir Ilic were the top scorers on that game, each scored 8 goals. Veszprém hosted Vardar on the 6th of December hoping for revenge. The end result was a 28:28 draw. Veszprém had a 3 goals lead 3 minutes before the game but Vardar scored the equalizer at the buzzer thus ending the game in a draw. Top scorers were Momir Ilic and Luka Cindric scoring 6 goals each.

 

Vardar won the regular season of SEHA League with minimal lost points. They lost only one game against Zagreb in December, while bagging a 15 wins and 2 draws against Veszprém and Brest. Interesting fact that Timur Dibirov scores 88,9% out of breakthrough which puts him in the second spot in that statistic after Presov's Lukas Urban. Dibirov is the top scorer for his team with 74 goals while Luka Cindric scored 52 and Igor Karacic scored 48 goals.

 

 

The Macedonian champion performs well in the VELUX EHF Champions League. They played 14 games in the group phase and lost 4 games only. That meant that they automatically qualified for the best 8 teams and will play against German Flensburg for Final4. Top scorers in the CL are Alex Dujshebaev with 64, Timur Dibirov with 59 and Igor Karacic with 48 goals.

 

Yesterday in the semi-finals Vardar defeated quite confidentially the Zagreb while the Hungarian record champions could win against host team Meshkov Brest after penalty shootout just like in the last year. Hopefully the result of the final will be the same like one year ago and Telekom Veszprém will be able to defend its title again.
