Foreshadow: Veszprém – Vardar

MVM Veszprém’s next opponent, which is our biggest rival in SEHA League, is Vardar Skopje.

We played against them for four times last year because we faced them in the CL group round, besides SEHA league. The games of last year are:

13.09.2014., 16:00: MKB-MVM Veszprém KC - RK Vardar Skopje 31-23 (SEHA League)

15.11.2014., 19:00: HC Vardar Skopje - MKB-MVM Veszprém KC 23-24 (Champions League)

07.03.2015., 20:15: RK Vardar Skopje - MKB-MVM Veszprém KC 28-21 (SEHA League)

22.11.2014.; 16:30: MKB-MVM Veszprém KC - HC Vardar Skopje 32-24 (Champions League)

As you can see, we gained victory in three games out of four. Our away game was especially memorable since we gained glorious triumph after an exciting endgame. Although our SEHA League defeat was unimportant in the series result, it was really disappointing because of the big gap and it was our second defeat in the last season.

Everyone expected that we were going to play against them in the final game of SEHA League but they were defeated by Meshkov Brest in the semi-final and they could not even win the bronze medal in the game against PPD Zagreb. In 2015 SEHA League they only managed to get to the quarter final – like a year before.

In the new season the Macedonian team is playing in CL’s “B” group and is still on top (five victories, one loss) overtaking the last champion Barcelona and Final4 participant Kielce.

Surprisingly, they are only in the 5^th place in SEHA League because they suffered defeat in Zagreb and at home against Brest. In both tournaments, Timur Dibirov turned out to be their most productive player but in SEHA League Dejan Manaskov scored as many goals as him (27).

In the team of Veszprém – as Xavier Sabaté said – László Nagy might be able to play again as well Mirko Alilovic. Andreas Nilsson, however, still cannot play after the concussion suffered during the game against the Russian national team.
