2016. Nov. 20. Sunday, 13:55
Another week, another VELUX EHF Champions League match: Telekom Veszprém – Paris Saint-German Handball will be organized in Veszprém Arena. Live broadcast on Sport1 on Sunday from 4:45PM.
There has not been a week since the last Champions League match but here is another derby for the members of “Építők”. Veszprém welcomes the team of PSG. This match is more like a real derby and fortunately Veszprém has won a lot nowadays. We met each other 6 times in the European cup series and we won 4 matches, lost 1 and we also have a draw. Last year we were in the same group with them and they could defeat us away, however on home court we won against them with 8 goals.
They certified top European players during the summer. Uwe Gensheimer moved to Paris from Löwen, while Luka Stepancic went to Paris from Zagreb. Besides them Goran Skof, goalkeeper, arrived from Nantes; Jesper Nielsen from Berlin; Dylan Garain from the development squad and the 21-year old Nedim Remili, who performs really well, from the team of Créteil. However, they have great names among those who left the team. They said goodbye to Fahrudin Melic, Sergiy Onufriyenkto, Robert Gunnarsson, Patrice Annonay, Samuel Honrubia and Igor Vori.
PSG has not made any mistakes in the French Championship so far, which means that they won 8 matches out of 8. They are on the top of Lidl Starligue and precede Nantes’s team with 3 points. Their last match was on November 16, Wednesday. They defeated Nimes for 36:33. Uwe Gensheimer and Nedim Remili scored 9-9 goals, Luc Abalo scored 6 while Mikkel Hanssen scored 4 goals.
They are on the top of group ‘A’ with Barcelona. Both PSG and Barcelona collected 10 points on 6 matches so far. They have only one defeat because Kiel could win against them during a very tight match with only one goal. Since then they won all the 5 matches and they are coming to Veszprém in a really good shape. Their best goal scorers are Gensheimer with 39 goals, Nedim Remili with 35 goals and the Danish Mikkel Hanssen with 30 goals.
“Építők” will have a crowded month and they also got a week with full of work. They won against the Danish Silkeborg in the Champions League on last Saturday with one goal and after that they had a match on Monday against Vác and then they played in Budakalász. They have won both. Sunday’s match will be a real power check for them and after that they will continue the Hungarian Championship in Eger.
With a victory we could be still in the race for the first place of the group and we could have the same points as PSG has.
Go on, Veszprém!
