This season’s last Champions League group game is coming. MVM Veszprém is hosting Orlen Wisla Plock against which we lost points at the beginning of CL. As László Nagy and his teammates said in their statements, they want to take revenge but we sure will feel the great relationship between the Hungarian and Polish fans in the stands. The match is going to be held on Saturday, at 5 pm and broadcast by Sport1.
On September 19, although Veszprém could lead the game for a while, Plock led by Rocha equalized and ended the game with a draw (27:27). This game, however, was followed by us gaining points and even if we were defeated by Paris and Kiel in tight games, we still have the change for group winning. But we need more than just a victory this weekend; Flensburg has to gain at least a point in Paris this Sunday. Comparing the results, we turned out to be better than the team of PSG so we only have to have the same amount of points as the French team does by the end of Sunday.
Nevertheless, we should take the team of Orlen Wisla Plock seriously. Not only because of the draw at the beginning of the season but also because they are going to play without any pressure since they will remain in the same place on the group table. Moreover, they almost caused surprise in Kiel two weeks ago. In both games, Tiago Rocha turned out to be the most productive player who, by the way, is the top player on their CL list with his 55 points. In this respect, MVM Veszprém’s best player is the top scorer Momir Ilic who is currently in the 9th place with his 71 goals.
All in all, Plock will remain in the 6th place; their 8 points (3 victories, 2 draws, 8 defeats) that they gained under 13 games are 3 points less than Zagreb’s. So now they are facing the 3rd team of Group B. They lead the Polish Championship, but it is important to know that they gained 39 point in 21 matches, while Kielce gained 35 points in 18 games. Michal Daszek is on the top of the scoring list with 127 goals, while Tiago Rocha is lagging behind him with three goals.
MVM Veszprém has been working hard this week to give excellent performance on Saturday. Fans also want to make this match even more memorable by cultivating their friendship with Poland.
