Foreshadow: Veszprém – Nexe

Even if some players from Veszprém were taking part in the European Championship, our fans had to wait a lot for the next period. It is time to break the spell of the Championship and get back to the world of handball. Yesterday at 6 PM the new season has begun for MVM Veszprém. Our first opponent was RK Nexe in the SEHA League.

 

 

At the press conference on Monday, Javier Sabate and Mirsad Terzic warned us that this game would not be as easy as it was in the away match. We gained a glorious 14-goal victory against Nexe on October 4 (Marguc 6 goals, Nilsson, Ilic and Sulic 5 goals).

 

Statements from the side of Nexe:

 

Zdenko Kordi, head coach: We will open series of three matches against a team which is playing in EHF Champions League. Before the match in Veszprem we’ve played two matches against very good Hungarian teams Oroshaza and PICK Szeged. Our form, of course, wasn't at the maximum level, but it will reach it as the season goes on. Veszprem, probably won’t be able to count on their Croatian and Spanish members. I want to congratulate them on the medals.

 

Perica Lelić, goalkeeper: Veszprem is for us toughest opponent and also the biggest favorite for the title. We are ready for new challlenges. Our wish is to make their job as tough as possible.

 

 

Nexe is currently in the 6th place of SEHA League with 7 victories and 6 defeats. After having played against us, they won over Strumica, Spartak Vojput, Vojvodina and were defeated by Brest and Zagreb with only one goal. Their most successful player in the tournament is Sasa Barisic Jaman who is in the 11th place with his 48 scores.

In the Croatian Championship, they are in the 2nd place after ten rounds falling behind PPD Zagreb with 6 goals.

 

MVM Veszprém is in the 2nd place of SEHA League and they have played 3 games less than the top team Vardar. They fall behind the big rival with only 3 goals.

 

After 44 days, the second part of this season has begun for the team of Veszprém and we hope it will be full of victories!
