Foreshadow: Veszprém – Kristianstad

 

Telekom Veszprém is going to play against IFK Kristianstad on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the next round of the VELUX EHF Champions League in the Veszprém Arena. The game will be broadcasted by Sport 1.

 

 

The two teams faced each other for the very first time in the history of any European Cup series and it did not go well for the Hungarian record champions. Although they started well, the opponent came back minute by minute into the game. Veszprém had the lead at half time but Kristianstad took over the lead around the 41st minute and grabbed the two points. On the home side Olafur Gudmundsson scored seven goals, while on Veszprém side Kentin Mahé scored four times.

 

Kristianstad is still in the lead in their domestic championship, leading before Malmo by two points. The have nine victories and two losses out of eleven games. The last time they played was on Wednesday against Savehof who were on eighth position. Our next opponent lost by four goals, 28:24, with Marc Canellas and Viktor Hallén scoring four times each. The overall top scorer of the team in the league is Teitur Einarsson with 42 goals.

 

 

The “Építők” played on Tuesday in the K&H League at home and managed to beat Komló confidently by twenty goals, 40:20. Manuel Strlek took a big part in this difference, as he scored eight times. In the Champions League we played against the same opponent and lost in Sweden.

 

The second half of the Champions League group phase kicks off this weekend, which means that it is still not too late to start collecting points. For this, a victory would be needed, especially in front of our Supporters. Let’s hope that it will happen and the “Építők” will step on victory’s way in the Champions League.
