2016. Oct. 15. Saturday, 15:32
Champions’ League continues, what is more on home court. The opponent will be THW Kiel and the match will be arranged on Saturday at 5:30PM. Live broadcast on Sport1 from 5PM.
Of course the opponent is not unknown because we face each other every time since 2012. The all-time record is balanced. The teams have met for 14 times and both Veszprém and Kiel could win 7 times. Last time we played against them in the semi-final of the Champions’ League in May, 2016. Back then we could win for 31:28 during the overtime.
Kiel tried to certified excellent players for the place of Dominik Klein and Juan Canellas, who left the team. They signed the left wing Raúl Santos from Gummersbach and two left backs, Nykola Bilyk from Fivers Margareten and Lukas Nilsson from Ystad. However maybe the best ‘catch’ was Andreas Wolff from Euskirchen. The 25-year old German National Team’s goalkeeper played a huge role in the fact that Germany became the European Champion in 2016.
In the German Bundesliga there was a triple dead heat on the first place. Kiel leads the point hunt with Füchse Berlind and Flensburg, however Flensburg played less than Kiel and Berlin with one match. An interesting thing is that Wetzlar, 10th in the group, defeated our Saturday’s opponent and since then they have this defeat only. They defeated Bergischer’s team on home court for 31:25. Nykola Bilyk could score 39 goals on 8 matches.
Kiel could win two times and lost only one time out of 3 Champions’ League matches. In the first round they won against Paris with 1 goal (28:27). In the second round they lost against Barcelona with 1 goal (26:25). Last time they won against Bjerringbro- Silkeborg with 3 goals (28:25). Their best players according to the European Cup series are Nykola Bilyk and Lukas Nilsson with 14-14 goals and Raúl Santos with 11 goals.
Veszprém’s team made an away draw (28:28) against Wisla Plock on their last Champions’ League match. On Tuesday there was a midweek match in the Hungarian Championship. Our team traveled to Balatonfüred where they won with 11 goals.
Last but not least we would like to share the request of sector O and Veszprém Fan Club.
“Dear Veszprém fans,
We would like to ask everyone, who visits Saturday’s Champions’ League match against THW Kiel to support the team with great enthusiasm and follow sector O’s ‘instructions’ in cheering. We also ask everybody to not use horns as much during the attack of the opponent and not use it other times because cheering become distorted from it. Let’s be honest, using horns is not cheering!
Moreover, sector O would like to ask their members to come together on the corridor over the sector at 5PM.
Taking all of this into account, let’s push the team into victory and make a hell of a good atmosphere from the first moment to the last!
Go on Veszprém, the victory is ours!”
