SEHA League Final4 kicks off on Friday. Veszprém takes the second game of the day against Meshkov Brest. We managed to beat them back-to-back this season. In Belarus we won 16:19 where the topscorer from Veszprém was Gasper Marguc with 6 goals. The other outstanding player was Roland Mikler who delivered an amazing 52% save percentage and stunned the Belarus side at 16 goals. At home court we achieved a 31:30 win where Dragan Gajic scored 9, while László Nagy scored 8 goals.
There was a fierce fight for the 4th place in the league. At the end 3 teams were head-to-head. Celje was edged out with 33 points while Zagreb and Brest qualified with 34 and 35 points respectively. The Vardar won the regular season and Telekom Veszprém ended in the second position.
Brest played 18 games in the tournament's regular season and grabbed 11 wins along the way. Besides that they had 2 draws and 5 losses. Next to the back-to-back loss against Veszprém, only Nexe, Vardar Skopje and Celje could win against them. Top scorers in the SEHA League are Rastko Stojkovic with 93, Dainis Kristopans with 74 and Iman Jamali with 47 goals. Interesting fact that the pivot Rastko Stojkivoc scored 93 goals from 107 chances which puts him in the first place at score percentage with a 86,9%.
Our opponent qualified to the best 16 teams in the Champions League but they got eliminated by German opponent Flensburg with back-to-back wins. Top scorers in the CL were Rastko Stojkivoc with 81, Dainis Kristopans with 76 and Iman Jamali and Vladislav Ostroushko with 45-45 goals each.
The „Építők” played in the Hungarian Championship the last time, on Monday. They beat Gyöngyös 28:23. Last weekend they won by 10 goals against Zagreb clinching a position in the best 8 teams in Europe where they will face Montpellier.
This is the third season of Telekom Veszprém in the SEHA Gazprom League and we could win all the two season behind us. The ultimate goal of our team to defend the title again and do a threepeat.
Let's go Veszprém!
