The Champions League will be back in the Veszprém Arena on Saturday, when Telekom Veszprém hosts Barca Lassa. The game will start at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted live by Sport 1.
Veszprém has already played against the Spaniards in away. We ended up losing the game in Barcelona by three goals. Our top scorer was Dragan Gajic with eight goals out of which five was from penalties. Our opponent’s top scorer was Casper Mortensen with seven goals including four from penalties. After the game Gajic said that there were a lot of turnovers from his team and also many technical mistakes. He also said that they had difficulties picking up the rhythm of the home team therefore they panicked a little and relied on individual efforts in offense.
After losing in the first round of the Champions League, Barca has failed to lose any other games in the group stage so far. They are the top of the group with nine consecutive victories. Their top scorer in the CL is Casper Mortensen, who will not play in Veszprém because he has suffered a serious injury in the World championship, which demanded surgical attention. To his place, Braca signed Nemanja Ilic on loan from Toulouse until the end of the season.
Barca is leading its domestic league by a mile without losing any games so far. They played seventeen games and won all of them. Last time they played on Tuesday on the road against Liberbank Cuenca and won 20:35. Top scorer of the game was Jure Dolenec with six goals. Their all around top scorer in the league is Casper Mortensen with 70 goals.
The “Építők” played last Saturday against Csurgói KK. The game ended with a 24:31 victory and Dejan Manaskov scoring nine goals. In the Champions League, the team played against Montpellier the last time and managed to beat the titleholders for the second time this season.
The boys had a full week to prepare for this Champions League clash and they are fired up, hungry for victory against the Spanish champion in the hoped to be “pressure cooker” Veszprém Arena. For this victory, the support of our Fans will be absolute necessary.
Let’s go Veszprém!
