Today at 6:00 p.m. Telekom Veszprém will face HC Vardar in the final of the VELUX EHF FINAL4. The game will be broadcasted live by Sport 1.
Vardar could only defeat us once in the Champions League so far, and that happened this season, at the end of September, 25:27 in the Veszprém Arena. Besides this, we won all games against them, that is six victories and a draw. The second game of the group in Skopje ended with a Veszprém win, so we can go to this game in an even balance. During the loss, Dragan Gajic scored five times, while in the away win László Nagy helped his team with six goals.
Vardar finished on third place of Group A in the Champions League, with nine victories, four losses and a draw. Only Barca could win against them back-to-back, and also Veszprém and Kielce could take both points against them. In the best 16, they played against PPD Zagreb, and basically decided the person of advancement on the first game, after winning by nine goals in the Croatian capital. The second-leg was a bit closer, but the two-goal victory was more than enough to go through the next round. In the quarterfinal they faced MOL-Pick Szeged, and just like they did against Zagreb, they left no questions for the second-leg. After a 31:23 victory at home, they could still qualify to Cologne with a loss in Szeged. Top scorer of the team in the Champions League is Dainis Kristopans with 80 goals.

Skopje managed to defend its title in the SEHA League, where they played the final against Zagreb and won 23:26 against the Croatians. This was Vardar’s fifth title in the SEHA League. Their most efficient player of our opponent was Dainis Kristopans again, with 64 goals.
After defending one title, they failed to defend one. In the Macedonian championship, Eurofarm Rabotnik edged them out to the second place with goal difference.
Telekom Veszprém played against PGE Vive Kielce yesterday in the VELUX EHF FINAL4 and won against the Polish 33:30. HC Vardar played against Barca Lassa and after a huge fight, they came up on top to knock the Spanish out.
Let’s go Veszprém!
