HC Vardar will host Telekom Veszprém on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the VELUX EHF Champions League on Match of the Week. The game will be broadcasted live by Sport 1.
Vardar could defeat Veszprém for the first time in the history of the Champions League last fall in Veszprém. Our history has one Skopje and five Veszprém victories while the teams ended in draw once. Vardar managed to win 25:27 in September. Top scorer from the home side was Dragan Gajic with five goals, while from the guests Timur Dibirov with six goals.
Vardar is currently on second spot in Group ‘A’ in the Champions League. Their fifteen points were collected from seven wins, a draw and three losses. They played last week in Mannheim against Löwen and won by three goals. Their top scorer in the Champions League is Timur Dibirov with fifty-one goals.
Our next opponent is on third place in the SEHA League, but collected the same amount of points as Nexe and Zagreb in front of them. They have thirty-six points so far by winning twelve times and losing twice. The last time they played was on 31 January against Vojvodina, which they managed to win 23:26. Their top scorer in the SEHA League is Dmirtij Kiselev with forty-seven goals.
The ”Építők” is preparing for their 300th Champions League game this weekend. We have played 147 games at home and we achieved 123 victories, 8 draws and suffered 16 defeats. We have played 144 games on the road out of which we won 75 times, drawn 7 times and lost 62 times. Besides these, we played 8 times on neutral court, in the Lanxess Arena during our four Final4 participation. ON these games, we won 3 times and lost 5 times. Veszprém will arrive to Skopje with victories in the bag, as the team has won all three of its games in 2019. Last week we won in the Champions League against Barca, while in the domestic league we beat Csurgó and Budakalász. The Veszprém Fans will again out do themselves, as 200 of them will travel to Macedonia to cheer for the team.
