Foreshadow: Tatabánya – Veszprém

 

Telekom Veszprém will step on court as the guest against Grundfos Tatabánya KC in the eight-final of the Hungarian Cup on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live by Veszprém Handball TV YouTube channel.

 

 

In the last encounter of the teams, Tatabánya managed to win against Veszprém at home to much surprise. Lékai Máté commented on the 26:24 loss the following way: “For us, this game was obviously awful. We did not expect this and that is not how we wanted to play. We played very dumb with a lot of mistakes.” Top scorer of Veszprém was Borut Mackovsek with five goals, while from the opponent it was Jakov Vrankovic who scored six times.

 

Tatabánya is in a good position in the group stage of the EHF Cup, as they are on second place behind Nexe. They managed to win two times and finish once in a draw, while losing once. The third best scorer of the smaller European cup series is Milos Vujovic in a draw with Berlin’s Hans Lindberg with 41 goals.

 

 

Our next opponent on third place in the K&H League. They played seventeen games so far, out of which they won thirteen times and lost twice while ending twice in a draw. Their latest result is a draw as well, because they could not decide their last game against Szeged last Saturday and played a 25:25 stalemate. Their top scorer in the Hungarian league in also Milos Vujovic with 106 goals this season.

 

Veszprém played in the K&H League last time, when they took a visit to Ferencváros. The game was a close one, but finally the “Építők” clinched the victory of 26:27. Their last game in the Champions League was also a close one, when they closed the group stage with a 35:36 victory over PGE Vive Kielce.

 

The eight-final of the Hungarian Cup is a one game clash, where between same league opponents, as it is now, a draw will mean the advancement of the guest team to the Hungarian Cup Final4 in April, organized in Debrecen once again.
