The second leg of the K&H League final will kick off on Sunday at 6:00 p.m., when MOL-Pick Szeged hosts Telekom Veszprém. The game will be broadcasted live by M4 Sport.
Telekom Veszprém and MOL-Pick Szeged were preparing for their 37th championship final on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. The starting of the game was a bit tense, both teams made technical mistakes. The parties were head to head in almost the entire first half, but both teams could get a bigger advantage once in the first period. Veszprém had a three-goal lead, which was equalized by the guests after a time out, they even took the lead. After a collision with Bodó, Blaz Blagotinsek was suspended for the third time and therefore ruled himself out of the game by a red card. The teams could not get a hold of each other; however, Szeged took a lead by the end of the first 30 minutes.
In the second period Mikler started in goal, who was already in the net by the end of the first half. It is important to mention his presence as Roland performed a 53% save percentage, which drove the Szeged offense crazy, who played in a hurry with a lot of mistakes. The offense in Veszprém worked well, Dragan Gajic scored nine times, Petar Nenadic scored six times, while besides Mirsad Terzic, who made a brilliant effort in defense, and our goalkeepers, nobody remained scoreless. The more mistakes Szeged made, the more the difference grew between the teams, and after a long time, the Fans of Veszprém Arena could count on the “Blues”. The final result was a 35:24 victory, which was a worthy goodbye to our retiring and departing players.
On the postgame press conference, the coach of Szeged, Juan Carlos Pastor, admitted that Veszprém was better in the second half and that it took many years to develop next to the “Építők”, now it seemed like they stepped three years backwards. The captain of our opponent, Jonas Kallman said that he is ashamed and disappointed by the performance of the team and himself. On the other hand, David Davis was satisfied with his team but warned everyone that anything can happen in sixty minutes of handball. Petar Nenadic thought that the second half was the best 30 minutes of handball they played the whole season, nevertheless the second game will start from 0:0 for both teams.
Veszprém travels to Szeged with a big lead in their pockets, but still cannot rest before the second leg of the final. In the weekend, and before departing to Szeged, the team is preparing hard, which would like to be the first team this season to win in Szeged. To the bank of River Tisza, 320 “Építők” Fans will travel to support the team, and we are hoping that the boys can thank them with a title.
Let’s go Veszprém!
