The derby of the K&H League will be played on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. when MOL-Pick Szeged hosts Telekom Veszprém. The game will be broadcasted live by M4 Sport.
The two top teams of Hungary have already played against each other in October of 2018 in Veszprém. Szeged managed to win 27:32 defeating Veszprém twice in a row in the regular season of the championship. After the game, coach David Davis said that „The game was hard, but we started well and after that, we started to go down until the end of the game. I tried to change the tactics because everything can be changed with that. I said this week a lot of times that the best goalkeeper will win the game and Sego was excellent today.” The top scorer from the home team was Andreas Nilsson and Manuel Strlek with five goals each, while from the guests Kallman scored six times.
Szeged made a mistake last time in the K&H League, when they played a draw against Tatabánya last Saturday. Before that, they won all of their matches that is why they have a nine points lead in the top spot before Veszprém, although they have played three games more. Top scorer of our next opponent in the league is Stefan Sigurmannsson with 87 goals, scoring 49 out of penalties.
The “Blues” did not finish the Champions League group so well, as they have lost in the last but on round against Nantes, and played a draw against Croatian champions Zagerb. They managed to finish on second spot in the group though, and will face Polish runner-up Wisla Plock in the best 16. The top scorer of Szeged in the CL in Bence Bánhidi with 54 goals.
The ”Építők” played a Hungarian Cup quarter final last time against Grundfos Tatabánya. The game ended in a 21:30 Telekom victory with which they qualified for the Hungarian Cup Final4 in Debrecen, early in April. In the Hungarian championship, Veszprém played against FTC last time, where they took a close 26:27 victory in Budapest. The group phase of the Champions League was closed well by Veszprém, as they won against Kielce and took the second place in the group. The next opponent in the CL is going to be Sporting CP.
Our Fans bought every ticket offered to our Club, which means that more than 250 Veszprém Supporters will cheer for the team on site. The boys worked hard all day to avenge the loss of October. We would like to thank our Fans for the support and we wish them a great time and Veszprém victory in Szeged!
Let’s go Veszprém!
