On Thursday at 8 p.m. Telekom Veszprém plays against Kadetten Schaffhausen in Switzerland in the VELUX EHF Champions League. The match is broadcasted by Sport1 from 7:30 p.m.!
Veszprém goes to Schaffhausen where they had only been once in their history. In 2008 we played a 28:28 draw there in the Cup Winners Cup. In the home leg Veszprém won by 6 goals and marched right in the final which they happen to win eventually. Last time we met them was in the fall of 2016. We beat Kadetten by 4 goals (32:28). Momir Ilic scored 7 goals while Dragan Gajic scored 6. All in all our history with the Swiss team is 2 win, 1 draw without loss.
Schaffhausen was able to catch a spot in the best 16 twice. In season 2010/11 and 2011/12. They have not managed to do it again ever since and this season is no exception. With their 2 points they stand at the last place of Group 'A'. They could only win against Wisla Plock, besides that they have 10 lost games. The last time they played in the CL was the 25th of February where they lost by 8 goals to PSG (34:26). Despite the many losses there is one player who must be highlighted. Gábor Császár stand in the illustrious 2nd place on the scoring table. He scored 71 goals in 11 matches, only one goal short to the leader of the table Magnus Bramming. Besides Császár, Luka Maros has 47 while Manuel Liniger has 29 goals.

The Swiss handball league is in the playoff phase. Our next opponent leads the group with Pfadi Wintherthur trailing one point behind him. After 21 games Schaffhausen has 17 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. Just like in the VELUX EHF Champions League Gábor Császár leads the team in scoring in the Swiss league. With 147 goals in 21 games he leads the scoring table.
Telekom Veszprém played in the CL last time where they beat Plock 31:25. Before that they travelled to Tatabánya to a Hungarian championship game. It was won also, the result was 28:22 for the “Építők”.
Another important game that can give us another important 2 points which are very needed to keep our edge before our chasers.
Let's go Veszprém!
