Foreshadow: Plock – Veszprém

Telekom Veszprém’s team continues to play in the Champions’ League away. The Hungarian champion travels to Poland, where they will have a match against Orlen Wisla Plock at 4PM. The Polish silver medalist team is not anonymous for us because they also played in the same group as we did. Back then there was a 27:27 draw on the away match and after that on the rematch Veszprém won with 27:25. Our results on 6 matches: 4 victories, 1 draw and 1 defeat.

Our enemy strengthened during summer because they have a new coach and several new players. Piotr Przybecki took over the place of Manuel Cadenas as the new coach. The new players are Gilberto Duarte from Port, Sime Ivie from Nantes, Lovro Mihic from Zagreb and Tomas and Maciej Gebala from Magdeburg. Those, who left: Bartosz Konitz, Marco Oneto, Ivan Nikcevicés and Angel Montoro.

On home court they are amazing. They are in a series of 6 victories and even if it is only with one point but they are on the first place of group “B”. On Wednesday on their championship they defeated Azoty-Pulawy’s team for 29:24, so they are in a good mood such as “Építők’s” team because we also won.

However, in the series of Champions’ League they could not manage to get such good results because they got defeated on the first two matches. On the other hand we have to mention that the enemies were Barcelona and Paris, who are much stronger “on paper” than them. Barcelona won for 28:23 in Plock, while in the French capital city the Polish team got defeated for 33:30. On these matches Dmitriy Zhitnikov scored 8, Gilberto Duartc and Tiago Rocha scored 7-7 goals.

Veszprém won with 4 goals on last weekend’s Champions’ League match against Schaffhausen and during the week we also won against Celje with 7 goals in the SEHA League, both times on home court.
