In our 2 part foreshadow article series we are going to examine the EURO 2018 in Croatia Veszprém-wise. In part 1, we are presenting the friendly games and group opponents of the national players of our Club while in part 2, we are presenting a bigger article on the Hungarian team itself.
Slovenia: Gasper Marguc and Blaz Blagotinsek
The Slovenian national team played 3 friendly games in January. In the first one, they beat Iran 31:19, after that came 2 back-to-back games against Serbia. The first game brought a 36:32 win for the Slovenians where Blagotinsek and Marguc scored 5 goals each. The second game was played yesterday where the Slovenians triumphed again. The result was 33:25. With this victory the Slovenian national team will travel to Croatia unbeaten where they will face Macedonia, Germany and Montenegro.
Serbia: Petar Nenadic
The Serbians prepared with 3 games before the continent tournament. Nenadic and his team lost all 3 of them. In their first game, they faced Macedonia on home court and lost 29:32. On that game Petar scored 3 goals. The other two games were the already mentioned ones against Slovenia; the results are obvious but on the first game, Nenadic bagged 4 goals. The Serb team will face Croatia on the opening match of the European championship, and then they will face Sweden and Iceland.
Norway: Kent Robin Tonnesen
The Norwegian national team participated in the Golden League, held in France. The tournament consisted of the home team France, Denmark and Egypt. Norway managed to win 2 out of 3 games. Right in the first round they lost to France 32:27 where Kent scored 4 times. Their second game was against Denmark. The result was 25:27 for Norway, our player scored twice on that one. Their third game was against Egypt, who everyone managed to beat, so did the Norwegians. The result was 31:28. Norway will play against France, Belarus and Austria in their group. Our Norwegian player was nominated among the 3 right backs who can make a big impact in the EURO 2018. The video about that is shown below.
Macedonia: Dejan Manaskov
The Macedonian national team only played one friendly, the already mentioned game against Serbia. Dejan did not play on that game but managed to stay in the traveling team nonetheless. Macedonian will start the EURO against Slovenia on Saturday, after that they will face Montenegro and Germany.
Croatia: Mirko Alilovic
Our Croatian goalkeeper returned to his national team after a shorter spell. They only played one friendly game before the European championship and it was against Montenegro. The game, which was held in Split, ended in a 25:22 victory for the Croats. Croatia has Serbia, Sweden and Iceland in their group.
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mirsad Terzic
While most European teams are preparing for the European championship, Mirsad Terzic and the Bosnian national team are playing in World championship qualifiers. Our player played against Switzerland yesterday where he could celebrate a 21:24 victory. The defender specialist scored 2 goals so he and his team can look forward to the second leg on the 13th with hope.
For those players – László Nagy, Momir Ilic, Andreas Nilsson, Renato Sulic, Cristian Ugalde and Dragan Gajic - who stayed home the preparations for the second half of the season will start on 15 January, with the help of the Junior team led by István Gulyás and Csaba Tombor. The program on Monday will start with a gym session, but in the following days the players will run, and have handball training as well. Our two injured players – Mátyás Győri and William Accambray – are doing their personal rehabilitation program.
