2015. Feb. 20. Friday, 15:38
2014/15 Champions League season’s group round will be over this weekend. MKB-MVM Veszprém is travelling to Montpellier to play with the top team of French Championship (13 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss). The game starts at 5 pm on Sunday.
Live broadcast on Digi Sport1.
We have already introduced our French opponent before the teams’ first game in this season. It was a much more difficult game than we had expected; we were able to win with one point (30:29). Our team’s most successful players were Ilic (6), and Nilsson (5). In the other team, Kavticnik and Grebille scored 9-9 goals but this Sunday Grebille will miss the game due to his injury. The French player’s shoulder has been injured in the semi-final of the World Championship and the prognosis was a 3-month absence. It is a huge defect for his team because in this season of the French Championship he scored 68 goals, and 45 goals in Champions League.
Our next opponent had three victories (twice against Celje, and Medvedi), two draws (Vardar and Medvedi), and four defeats (twice against Löwen, Veszprém, and Vardar) in CL’s 9 rounds. The most important triumph was obviously in the eighth round when the team won and qualified against Celje in an away match for the 4th place. In CL the team’s most successful player is the Slovenian right wing, Dragan Gajic who is the 4th in the scoring list with his 59 goals.
MKB-MVM Veszprém is going to the airport on Saturday morning, at 7 and travelling to Montpellier with the 10:30 flight. The team is going to stay at the Hotel Mercure Montpellier Centre Antigone**** where they will have a lunch at 1:30 pm then analyze videos at 5 pm. They are also going to have a training at 6 pm in Sport Hall René Bougnol that is followed by a dinner at 8:30 pm.
On Sunday, the program is the following: breakfast at 8:30 am, analyzing videos at 11:30 am, then lunch. At 2:30 pm they can have a coffee and then they are going to the Arena Montpellier which has a seating capacity of 9000 spectators. Our last CL group match starts at 5 pm. Right after that the team is going to the airport to catch the 9 pm flight and according to plan they are going to arrive at 11 pm in Budapest.
This game will be the teams’ 10th clash and this will also be a CL match as the previous ones. Our all-time results are 5 victories and 4 defeats. We hope that the French team will not equalize this all-time record on Sunday and we will be able to finish the group round with a winning.
