IFK Kristianstad hosts Telekom Veszprém on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. in the seventh round of the VELUX EHF Champions League. The game will be broadcasted live by Sport 1.
Kristianstad did well in their group last season as they have managed to qualify for the best 16, where they have met Flensburg. The Germans advanced through with double victory but both games were close. First, the Swedish lost at home by four goals, then in Germany by three. The top scorers were Lagergren in the first leg, with six goals, and Lipovac in the second leg with seven goals.
This year they are not on the level they were last season as they have only collected one point in six games. That point was earned from the also not so bright titleholders, Montpellier. Their top scorer in this series is Stig Nielsen with 25 goals.
Our next opponent has won the Swedish championship four times in a row and they are in the lead so far before Alingsas. They played ten games this season and won nine out of them, while losing one in Malmö. Last time they hosted Ystad at home and beat them 26:23. Their top scorer in the league is Teitur Einarsson with 39 goals.
This summer seven players came while five left the club. Albin Lagergren left to Magdeburg, Tim Sörensen signed with Göppingen, Gunnar Stein Jonsson plays in Ribe/Esbjerg, Mario Lipovac went to Ystad and Inge Aas Eriksen is in Fyllingen now. On the arriving side you can find Alfred Ehn from Sködve, Marc Canellas from Granollers, Teitur Einarsson from Selfoss, Anton Halén from Göppingen, Adam Nyfjall from Sönderjyske, Emil Hansson from Ystad and Ludvig Jurmala from Tyresö.
The “Épíitők” played in Mezőkövesd last time in the K&H League and although the game started a bit shaky, Veszprém eventually won by seven goals. In the Champions League we hosted Rhein-Neckar Löwen and we lost by a very close one goal.
Telekom Veszprém and IFK Kristianstad have never met before in any European Cup series ever, which that they have a clean record against each other. Of course, Veszprém would like to kick-off this relationship with a victory. The boys are travelling to Sweden well prepared, where 30 Hungarian Fans will support them. We would like to thank our Supporters for their loyalty.
Let’s go Veszprém!
