MVM Veszprém is facing its last and hardest Champions League game in 2015. The German THW Kiel is hosting “Építők” on Sunday, at 2:15 PM. Live broadcast on Sport1.
As you might have read the statements in our previous article, the team is preparing for a really difficult game. According to our players, this will be the last and hardest match.
The game in Veszprém was extremely hard but our team could gain the two points in the end (29:27). Before that game, we took a look at the past of the team of Veszprém and Germany. With the victory in October, our all-time result against them now includes six victories and six defeats so we might take the lead in this respect.
Since then, Veszprém gained victory and suffered defeat against Paris Saint-German, and we managed to defeat Celje twice. THW Kiel won against Celje at home but was defeated by PSG twice and this was followed by a draw in Slovenia. They are currently in the 4th place of “A” group with 9 points lagged behind Paris and Flensburg. Veszprém is on the top of this group again with its 15 points.
In order to remain the top team of the group, it is essential for us to gain points this weekend in North Germany. In the Sunday game, both teams are missing key players; in our team Momir Ilic will not play because of his wrist bone fracture, while in the home side Domagoj Duvnjak are not allowed to play because of suspension. Scoring 10 goals last Saturday, “Momo” has moved forward in the scoring list; he got to the 6th place; while the two most successful “zebras”, Canellas and Vujin are both in the 33rd place.
On the website of THW Kiel, they highlight our victory over PSG and add that we have excellent players in each position. Apparently, they mention the former Celje players who are injured. As Toft Hansen and Duvnjak said, both of them count on the German audience, the latter one assures everyone that he is going to be a real fan.
In the morning the team is travelling to Germany, where nearly 120 Veszprém fans will cheer for us in the Sparkassen Arena with the capacity of 10 000 spectators.
