2018. Sep. 21. Friday, 12:13
Barca Lassa will host Telekom Veszprém on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the next round of the VELUX EHF Champions League. The game will be broadcasted by Sport 1.
Our history against Barcelona does not look good. First, we have never won a game in Palau Blaugrana, second there are only 5 Veszprém victories altogether next to 13 for Barca. On our last encounter we managed to beat them 34:30 in the bronze game of the Champions League Fina4 in Cologne. As one can see, every bad series will end and we hope that ours will stop in the Catalan capital.
Barca was eliminated from the Champions League at the best 16. They ended the Group phase well with only 3 defeats from Nantes, Szeged and Vardar. They met Montpellier in the eights final where the French team managed to get a 3 goals advantage for the next round which eventually melted to only one at the end, but it still saw Barcelona knocked out of the series. The top scorer in the top European competition was Dika Mem with 73 goals.
As it always happens, Barca won the Liga Asobal with a huge advantage. They played 30 games and won 28, while suffering a defeat and drawing once. They collected 57 points and had a 14 points lead to the runner ups, Ademar León. The only team that could beat the champions was Granollers on a 29:28 game. Their top scorer was Valero Rivera, who left the club this summer, with 159 goals. The Spanish championship is already on and Barcelona won 3 games out of 3.
The summer saw 5 players leaving and 5 players coming to the club. Barca signed Ludovic Fabregas from Montpellier, Thiagus Petrus from Szeged, Casper Mortensen from Hannover, Kevin Möller from Flensburg and Gilberto Duarte from Plock, while on the leaving side are Valero Rivera to Nantes, Viran Morros to PSG, Borko Ristovski to Benfica, Wael Jallouz was loaned out to Füchse Berlin, while Alexis Borges is still looking for a team.
The “Építők” played in Eger last time, in the K&H League and managed to return home with a stunning 22:41 victory. Top scorers were Andreas Nilsson and Blaz Blagotinsek with 5 goals each.
The boys have left to Barcelona today in the morning, where they will have a training then tomorrow have to face a strong fight against Barca Lassa. Az we have already mentioned, all bad series come to an end, and we hope our will stop right this weekend.
Let’s go Veszprém!
