Final4 pregame statements

MVM Veszprém will go to Cologne on Thursday in order to fight against THW Kiel during the semi-final of CL Final4 on Saturday at 6PM. The goal is to play on Sunday again at 6PM but this time for the CL Title in the Final. We have asked Coach Xavi Sabaté, Péter Gulyás, Gergő Iváncsik and Aron Palmarsson before the journey.

 

 

Xavi Sabaté: I think that the team is ready. They worked very hard and good during the season. Now we only have to think about Kiel. We know that it will be very hard because it is only one match and everything is possible because all the teams are very good in Cologne. We will go there to enjoy the match, the event and the atmosphere and to try to win against Kiel. I would like to say thank you to the fans for the incredible support during the whole season and for the fact that they can come with us to Cologne. We know how big effort is this for them. Moreover we hope that if we fight together in every minute of the match we can manage to win.

 

 

Péter Gulyás: For me the first thing which comes to my mind if I hear the expression ‘Final4’ is the team of THW Kiel. Now I focus only on them because we want to beat them. We have played against them two times in this season so we know their style of game better. I think because of that at the beginning of the match we will not have to try to map their game style. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. I think that the key will be the defense on both sides and everybody will focus more on that. If we can stop their fast breaks with a high percentage, we will have good chance to get into the finals.

 

 

Gergő Iváncsik: We cannot wait this weekend. I have good feelings as for this match in the whole week and in the whole month actually. We are preparing a lot. Obviously it will not be easy but I feel that compared to previous games we have the biggest chance to win now. We have to play against Kiel again and of course both teams want to win in order to play in the finals. I think both teams will try to surprise the other with something but I don’t think we can show new big things to each other. We trust in our fans’ support. We would like to say thank you to them that they accompany us with such a big number. Moreover we hope that a lot of people will cheer us in front of the TVs.

 

 

Aron Palmarsson: this will be the 6th CL Final4 in which I will play. I think that this event is getting better from time to time and develops continuously. It was fantastic last year and I am sure that it will be amazing in this year too. I feel that we have good chances because we have an excellent team. This team got closer to win the trophy from step to step in the previous years. We want to win the CL this time, everything else would be a disappointment for me.
