"Everybody stands behind the team in this city"

Today we spoke with Dragan Gajic, who is a new member of Telekom Veszprém. The Slovenian right wing was very happy about our phone call and he willingly answered to our questions.

 

Hello, welcome everyone! I am with my family in Slovenia right now. I have spent 2 weeks with them, my parents and my friends. However today I have started the trainings for the new season with my coach, who worked for the Slovenian National Team before. He is the one who helps me to get ready for the new season, which seems to be really hard.

 

 

Everything happened really fast. Of course for the first time I was really surprised when my manager gave information about it but I said yes instantly. I am excited and happy that I have signed for Veszprém and of course very motivated. I know that my new Club's goal is to get titles, out of which the biggest challenge is to win the Champions League. All of these motivate me to work hard.

 

I have played in the Arena 2 times and it was a great experience even if I was in the opponent team. And now I can play for these fantastic supporters? It is crazy! I cannot wait to play in front of the Veszprém fans. The Arena is very similar to the one in Celje, where I have spent 10 years. I know that everybody expects great matches and victories from the team but this is good for the players because we love pressure. Besides winning trophies the other main reason to come to Veszprém was the audience. Everybody loves for handball and stands behind the team in this city.

 

 

Yes, I have spoken with him. Gasi is an excellent player but I think we are different in our game style. I like fast breaks and to jump in from very small angles. Of course Gulyas Peter also plays in this position whom I know well because we are in the same age. We have played a lot against each other when we were young as the members of the youth system. We can also speak about a great player if we mention him. I think that we will all have the time to play on the court to show what we can. In my opinion the right wing position will be very powerful in the next season in Veszprém.

 

I am a really calm person but sometimes I can be angry. Not so often and only on court (he laughs). I like to talk with people and fans. Basketball, football, running and video games are also belong to my hobbies. Of course I love spending time with my family, my wife, son and daughter, however she lives in Slovenia so she is not with us all the time. It needs time for everyone to get to know me but as I have mentioned making new friendships is not a problem for me.

 

As a professional player I cannot say that we will win the CL because it is not that simple. However I can say that with the team we will give 150% in order to fulfill the expectations and to make everyone happy. I will try to do my best and help the team to get onto the next level compared to the previous season.
