Draw was made in the CL

2016/17 Champions League season's groups were made Friday afternoon. Telekom Veszprem is in the upper-house "A" group and it's opponents are the followings: FC Barcelona, Lassa, PSG Handball, Bjerringbro Silkeborg, Orlen Wisla Plock, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, Kadetten Schaffhausen, THW Kiel

 

The upper-house "B" group consists of: Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Vive Tauron Kielce, Vardar Skopje, PPD Zagreb, Meshkov Brest, MOL-Pick Szeged, Celje Pivovarna Lasko, IFK Kristianstad

 

 

Members of the two lower-classes:

 

„C”: Naturhouse La Rioja, Metalurg Skopje, Chekovskie Medvedi, Montpellier Handball, Elverum Handball and a qualifying team.

 

„D”: HBC Nantes, Team Tvis Holstebro, Motor Zaporozhye, Besiktas Mogaz HT, Dinamo Bucuresti and a qualifying team.

 

 

Nikola Eklemovic, sports director of Telekom Veszprem, said the followings to the EHF TV after the draw: My opinion is that we got into the most powerful group in the last 15 years of Champions League history. Every group represents high standards they are amazing teams so interesting and tough games are ahead of us. However it is good for handball. We hope that we can manage to go to Cologne again in order to achieve our goals, which mean to win the CL.

 

 

We called Laszlo Nagy and Andreas Nilsson after the draw to ask them about their opinion.

 

Laszlo Nagy: If I should characterize our group in one word, I would say: parade! It was not a surprise that our group is the stronger one. Handball is getting more and more powerful and balanced in Europe. It is especially true in our group's case. Teams with similar power in their play are also in the other group, however they may not be as powerful as the teams in our group. It is not a question that these matches will be enjoyable and exciting for the viewers. One thing is sure, we will prepare really hard for the new season.

 

 

Andreas Nilsson: Our group is very hard but of course we will prepare for the fight. The audience is amazing, they will possibly see the highest level matches. We will go on the court to win and we will do everything for the final victory. A very long and tough road is waiting for us.
