Gaspur Marguc scored there very first goal of the game, but this time we could not take control of the game, as we did against Porto or Flensburg. It was a very close battle until the 22nd minute, when Dinamo Bucharest got a three goal lead (11-8) for the first time. Momir Ilic asked for a time out to have a word with his players, but in the following minutes the away team got into even more trouble. In the 26th minute the leader of Veszprém’s defense, Adrián Sipos got a red card for an unlucky fault (14-13). 

In the first few minutes of the second half Telekom Veszprém could take the lead, thanks to the Serbian dynamic duo, Petar Nenadic and Vladimir Cupara. However, Dinamo Bucharest could turn the game back around almost immediately. By the time the home team’s advantage grew to four goals (23-19), Momir Ilic asked for a second time out. In the following minutes Telekom Veszprém could get slightly closer to its opponent, but only managed to equalize in the 55th minute. But unfortunately Dinamo Bucharest got the better of Veszprém in the dying minutes of the game, so Momir Ilic’s side are left without points this time.

Momir Ilic: − Congratulations to Dinamo! We knew it was going to be a tough game, we prepared for that, but we couldn’t react well on the court. We had a really bad game, i’m not satisfied. So far, we had five good games in the Champions League, but nothing worked tonight.

Manuel Strlek: − Congratulations to Dinamo! The coach said it all, we played really bad, we had a slow start to the game, we couldn’t find the rythm. That made us even more nervous, we missed many chances and gave the ball away too often. In the second half Dinamo played very smart, they took long in attack, they deserved to win.

Xavi Pascual: − First of all, I would like to dedicate this victory to Marian Cozma’s father, it must have been a special day for him. Congratulations to Veszprém, it is an honour for us to play against them in the Champions League. I’m very proud of my team, they worked really hard for this victory. This is the most important for me, that everyone puts in the work and that they all want to play and win.
