David Davis is the new head coach of Telekom Veszprém

 

It has become official today, that David Davis will take over the head coach position of Telekom Veszprém. The 41 years old Spanish coach signed a 1+1 year deal with Veszprém Handball Team Co. Ltd. His work will be assisted by the Club’s legend, Carlos Perez. The board of the Club appointed István Gulyás to fulfil the position of sports director.

 

David Davis started his handball career in BM Granollers in 1995, after which he signed with CB Naranco Oviedo, followed by SD Tucro and BM Altea. The great left wing spent his best years in BM Valladolid, Ciudad Real and Atletico Madrid BM between 1999 and 2013. He became a 3 times Spanish champion, 5 times Spanish Cup winner, 3 times Spanish Super Cup winner and managed to win the Champions League 3 times. Furthermore, he won an EHF Cup, EHF Super Cup and the Club World Cup. He was a gold medalist at the 2005 World Championship, was a runner-up in the 2006 European Championship and he also won bronze medal with the Spanish national team in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He retired from handball in 2013 from FC Porto.

 

In the same year he has started his career as a handball coach by being the assistant trainer at HC Vardar where he worked for 5 years as the assistant of Raúl Gonzalez, while being the head coach of ZRK Vardar women’s team in the season 2016-17. He became a Macedonian champion with both teams every year, while winning the SEHA League twice and the Champions League once in 2017 with the men’s team. In the same year he finished as runner-up in the Champions League with the women’s team. In 2017, he became the assistant coach of the Russian national team, and since 2018 he is the head coach of the Egyptian men’s national team.
