Celje – Veszprém pregame statements

MVM Veszprém is going to visit Celje and play a Champions League game at 3 pm on Sunday. The match will be broadcasted live on Sport 1. Before this clash Coach Xavier Sabaté, team captain László Nagy, Gasper Marguc and Aron Palmarsson shared their thoughts.

 

 

Xavier Sabaté: It will be a difficult match. The Celje is a young team but every year they have better players because they have time for working together. They are strong in defense and run a lot. I think it is very important that in attack we do not make a lot of technical mistakes and do not allow them to run. The good thing is that during this week we recover some injured players and now we can work together and prepare for one of the most difficult matches so far.

 

 

László Nagy: It is always difficult to play in Celje, because they are an unpleasant opponent. They have solid middle wall, their defenders in second positions are shorter so they open their defense more and this is very unpleasant and hard to play against it. We will try to play accurate in offense. Their biggest strength is running a lot so our restitution will be very important. We must stop their runs over us and then we will have good chances for the win which is our ultimate goal, of course. There is a strong week with the international team behind us, the players were there had a little more and different work than us. It was sensible in our last game against Vardar, but it is not excuse for the draw. We keep going forward, a lot of games are waiting for us and now the most important one is this upcoming match against Celje in this weekend. It is obvious that we must play better handball, we will aspire to this. I am sure that after this draw everybody will be extra motivated.

 

 

Gasper Marguc: It is always difficult to play against your friends but like in the last year, we want to win it in this year of course. We have some problem with injuries, we were not together so much after the week of national teams. But I feel like the team is motivated, we know what we can except in Celje, it will be a difficult match but we want to gather the two points, of course. In the Slovenian national team we were joking about it with each other all week long, but when it comes to the court I fight for Veszprém, they fight for Celje. We will see at the end who will be better.

 

 

Aron Palmarsson: Celje has a good, young team and they stick really well together, especially at home. You can see in the last few years that in the Champions League they always play good at home. So it will be a very difficult game. I hope our fans are gonna be very loud there. We don’t look back at what we have done, we are gonna just look forward to the game against Celje and train good this week and be very well-prepared for this match.
