Borut Mackovsek moves to Veszprém

 

Today it became official that Telekom Veszprém signs Borut Mackovsek, left back of RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko. The 25 years old, Slovenian international signed a 2-year contract (until 30 June 2020) to the Hungarian record champion. The 203 cm tall player who weighs 95 kg said the following words regarding his new contract.

 

“I can say that it is a dream come true for me. Everyone knows that Veszprém is one of the best clubs in Europe. It is a big step for me, but I am happy. I am glad that I can come here. I have many friends playing in Veszprém already so I am really looking forward to playing here with all those great players and in front of all those great fans. This arena is almost the same like in Celje. I hope that everything will be good.”

 

 

Mackovsek played in RD Izola from 2001 until 2007 as a youth player, and in 2007, he moved to the youth system of RK Celje. He earned a professional contract there, but after only one season he moved to RK Maribor Branki. After another season he returned to Celje in 2011 and played there for 2 years. His 2012/13 season was so great that he could move to the Bundesliga to TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, but he finished the season in Dinamo Minsk. After this he moved to Montpellier and one season after he moved to ThSV Eisenach. He returned to Celje in 2016, but he gets on the road again and moves to Telekom Veszprém.

 

 

He debuted in the Slovenian national team in 2011, since then he played 88 games and scored 194 goals. He was the member of the team when they won bronze medal in the 2017 World Championship in France.
