On November 23, 2015, Dr Gábor Fonyó, President of MVM Veszprém resigned his title and his membership in the board MKB Veszprém Kézilabda Ltd.

 

The resigning president had become co-president in 2012, then president from May 2013. Before his arrival, the team had been in a difficult period and been threatened that thousands of fans will lose the chance to visit prestigious handball games in Veszprém.

 

During his periods, he had reorganized the operating model of the team; from 2013 the team had been operated by MKB Veszprém Kézilabda Ltd; the financial status had been stabilized. The team had started its most successful period of its history including three Championship and Hungarian Cup victories, two Super Cup triumphs, a SEHA League champion title and two Champions League Final4 participations out of which the team once played a final game against Barcelona. These successes have been achieved since May 2013. As a result of the successful CL performance, the team had managed to take part in the unofficial Club World Championship in Qatar - first time in its history - where they ended up in the second place.

 

He had succeeded in building international relationships, and had greatly contributed to our team becoming one of Europe’s most outstanding teams.
