Andreas Nilson wants to win the BL also with Veszprém
Andreas Nilsson adapted himself easily to the circumstances in Veszprém. The fact that two other players: the Serbian Momir Ilics (contract signed in 2013, 2x BL winner) and the German Christian Zeitz (contract signed in 2014, former winner of the World Cup and the European Cup) came also from the tie of the Bundesliga to the Hungarian champion team might made his situation easier.
"When it got known that I was about to leave, I got offers from several other teams, but now that doesn't mean anything. The only thing that counts is that I got to the best place possible where I an still improve my skills and with such a team I might be the winner of the BL again." - declared the Swedish sportsman to the Telekom Sport News.
Nilssons career begun in his hometown Trelleborg with a population of just 30.000 people. In 2010 he signed for a team in the Swedish front sector, the IFK Skövde and this counted already as a big step for him. But the biggest step forward has come only after this.
"Two years ago I left Sweden and i became a player in the HSV Hamburg, a team belonging to the front-line of the Bundesliga, where people looked strange at those who still hoped for a good performance on the BL after the disappointing fifth place on the championship. However the miracle happened two days after: The HSV won the cup after defeating two European champions: the Kiel and the Barcelona. And i, as a rookie, with 22 years got to the highest point of my career ever."
The swedish pivot gets more and more opportunity from the coach Carlos Ortega by changing the Croatian Renato Sulic. Besides he also counts as a stable member of the rejuvenating Swedish national team, which have won the silver medal in London.
"Sulic is a super player. One can learn as much from him as from his compatriot Igor Vori, with whom I played together in Hamburg for short time. Renato is 10 years elder than me and he does not look like he would prepare to give up. The possibility I have now to play is acceptable for me, because i know I can count on more later."
It is also clear for him that he can be part of such a team, that its rivals (the Barcelona, the Löwen, the Kiel and the former BL champion Flensburg) also consider for a possible winner of the finals and occupier the European "throne".
"I have got to a town in Hungary which is nearly 30 times smaller than Hamburg. Good people and new friends are surrounding me here. Life is not as busy as it was in Germany before, but I on't have any problem with that. But i would be really happy if I could see my girlfriend Ebba more often. She is also a sportswoman, a member of the Swedish National Team as a high-jumper." - told at the end of the interview Andreas Nilsson, who is expecting a hard game on the return match on Saturday against the Vardar Skopje, but maybe a bit easier than that they have won in Skopje last weekend.
The 27 years old, beautiful Ebba Jungmarks best result was 196 cm in 2012 on the indoor world championship. Last year she gained a silver medal on the "under the roof" continental championship.
