A familiar face
Carlos Ortega returns to Veszprém Aréna as the head coach of the reigning champion, Barça.
− You’ve been part of many of these battles, you used to play in Barcelona and you were the coach of Veszprém too. How do you remember these games?
− When I was a player I remember the fantastic atmosphere in Veszprém. When later I was the coach of the team we only played against Barcelona twice: for the third place in the Champions League in 2014 and a year later in the final. Now that the supporters are back in the arena I hope to experience the amazing atmosphere again and hopefully we are going to play a good game.
− We spoke to László Nagy earlier, you two have shared a lot of nice memories in the past. Are you still in touch?
− Yes, Laci was my teammate in Barcelona and later he became one of my most influential players in Veszprém. We still have a very good, friendly relationship, and we speak every now and then.
− Veszprém fans still admire you. Is the feeling mutual?
− Yeah, I have really nice memories of them, I hope I’m going to get a warm welcome on Wednesday. Even though we could not speak the same language, I have always felt their love for me. I can only say the best things about them.
− What are your expectations regarding the game on Wednesday?
− It is going to be a very hard game, Veszprém is always a tough opponent in front of their own fans, we could see that in the first round. They have a strong 6-0, they run a lot, it is going to be a hard game. Momo was my player for a few years, it is a huge challenge for him, but I wish him all the best. He has his own ideas that he is trying to mix with the Spanish system. He could become a great coach in Veszprém.
