All of the four games of our Champions League “A” group were organized last Saturday. At the end of the day, the top 3 players managed to enlarge the gap on the list. MVM Veszprém is still after PSG Handball in the second place overtaking Flensburg Handewitt which gained triumph against Celje Pivovarna Lasko in Veszprém Arena (34:28).
Paris Saint-Germain Handball (FRA) - THW Kiel (GER) 37:30 (18:12)
Nine days after ending THW Kiel’s 4-year undefeated run on home ground, PSG hosted the German champion team in Paris. Mostly thanks to Thierry Omeyer’s amazing savings, the home team ended the first half with a 6-goal lead. On home side, Nikola Karabatic and Mikkel Hansen played outstanding.
The second half went similarly, Omeyer defended even with 60 % accuracy. Kiel was close to suffer the biggest defeat of its history (28:17) although the German had been defeated by Badel Zagreb in March 25, 2000. They ended the match with “only” a 7-goal difference and Coach Zvonimir Serdarusic gained victory for the third time in a row over a team which he had been the leader of.
Scorers:
PSG: Karabatic 8, Hansen 7, Honrubia 6, Mollgaard Jensen 4, Narcisse 3, Abalo, Karabatic, M'tima és Onufryienko 2-2, Kounkoud 1
Kiel: Dissinger és Vujin 6-6, Canellas és Duvnjak 5-5, Dahmke 4, Ekberg 2, Anic és Ferreira Moraes 1-1
HC Prvo plinarsko drustvo Zagreb (CRO) - SG Flensburg-Handewitt (GER) 23:30 (10:15)
In the first half, the home team had difficulties with their offense; they scored only 10 goals. In contrast with them, Flensburg played efficiently; their fast breaks were especially successful. Guest goalkeeper Mattias Andersson was a key player of the match; he saved many shots during the first half.
In the first nine minutes of the second half, the game was completely different. Zagreb appeared to be more motivated both in offense and defense. As a result of their performance, they could equalize the result. However, Flensburg rebounded and overtook the home team after an 8:2 series. They were able to increase their 6-goal lead with one more goal and gained confident victory. This was Flensburg’s fifth victory in a row, while Zagreb suffered its third defeat but is still in a good position on the list.

Besiktas Jimnastik Kulubu (TUR) - Orlen Wisla Plock (POL) 29:38 (15:19)
Although Serbian right back Nemanja Zelenovic signed for Magdeburg, the Polish team dominated the match as it did one week before. In the guest team Ramazan Döne seemed to unstoppable - he scored 9 goals altogether – but the team could keep up with the home team only for twenty minutes. Plock’s most productive player was Dimitry Zhitnikov scoring 7 goals. Two Turkish left backs, Dragan Djukic and Nemanja Pribak were inactivated.
