2017. Dec. 29. Friday, 14:21
Just like in the previous years, 2017 had plenty of successes, great wins and of course trophies for Telekom Veszprém. Our club celebrated its birthday on 9th of January. The team and the fans also tried to make this year memorable.
The „Építők” could hold their golden place in the K&H League and in the Hungarian Cup. It was the 25th trophy in the championship and the 26th from the cup series. Unfortunately, in the SEHA League Final4 in Brest, the ending was not a happy one, because we lost the final game against the team of Vardar Skopje. We made it to The Final4 of the Champions League, so we had another important few days in Cologne. It was the 4th time in a row for our team to fight in Cologne for the greatest trophy, but we could not reach our biggest goal. In the semi-final we lost against PSG, but we won the bronze game against Barcelona to close the season with a fantastic game.
In this 2017/2018 season, our team won all of the games we had in the Hungarian Championship. In the Champions League in the really tough group ’B’ we will continue the season in February from the 3rd place. We haven’t take part in the SEHA League this year.
Let’s take a look at the numbers! We got some interesting statistics collected by Zoltán Lang, we would like to guide you through.
This year, in 2017, we played in 55 games. We won 47 from it, lost 7 times and came out with a draw 1 times. We had some preseason games as well, our record is 5 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.
Our most busy months were February, March and April. All of these months had 8-8 games for us, and except of 2 games we have collected all of the available points.
In 2017 we had 16 less games than in 2016, because we do not play in the SEHA League in this season. We had less fans watched us in our games in total because of it, but the average number of spectators in a game got higher.
We had win with biggest difference against Cegléd, when we won by 26 goals. We lost by 5-5 goals against PSG and Vardar, it was our biggest negative difference.
We scored the most goals in a single game against Budakalász, it was 44. The most we got was 33 against PSG.
Finally let’s take a short look at our players in 2017. Dragan Gajic scored the most goals and he has the highest average as well. Máté Lékai and Timuzsin Schuch have the most appearances.
In the Champions League Lékai scored the most goals, in the K&H League it is Gajic and in the SEHA League our top scorer was Marguc.
Hopefully at the end of 2018 we can show you numbers about even more goals, wins and trophies.
Let’s go Veszprem in 2018!
