This year Telekom Veszprém's roster consist of 20 players. In our new series we are going to ask the same 20 questions to each player. We are moving up by the jersey number, our eleventh subject was Cristian Ugalde. You can read the chat with him below.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is the Spanish paella.
What is your favorite drink?
I mostly drink water but I also like lemonade a lot.
What is your favorite color?
I like green the most.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is the Gladiator with Russel Crowe.
Who is your favorite actor and/or actress?
I like the films of Anthony Hopkins. He has great movies.
Who is your favorite musician?
When I was young I really liked the Spanish group called El Canto Del Loco. They played Spanish songs in the style of pop rock.
What is your favorite song?
I like Spanish and English pop rock mainly. I also listen to latin songs and singers like Ricky Martin. There are always new songs that I like so it would be hard to list all of them. I do not like techno and these kind of music styles.
What is your favorite book?
I love different kind of books. I like balladic books, or war stories. I also read bibliographies, the last two that I have read was Andre Agassi’s and Rafael Nadal’s. I also read the Game of Thrones books, because they are more different than the series.
What is your favorite animal?
My favorite animals are the lemurs. They can be seen in the Veszprém Zoo. It is very funny when you can go inside to feed them and be with them.
What are your habits before a game?
I always do the same thing. I eat spaghetti carbonara and I always listen to the same kind of music. I always wear the same underwear for the games. During warm up, I always do the same movements and stretches. I think that is all.
What is your proudest moment in your career?
I am proud of all the things I achieved. I had the opportunity to play in the first team of Barcelona when I was only 17 years old. The biggest thing for me was when I won the Champions League. Winning the CL in a team like Barca is always the best. The other thing I am very proud of is when I won my first medal with the Spanish national team in 2011 in the World Championships. These two were the bests for me.
Who is your role model?
In Spain we had a very famous left wing, Rafael Guijosa. He was my role model when I was young. He was one of the best left wings of the world. It was easy for me to see him as he played in Barcelona too.
What would you be if you were not a handball player?
If I was not a handball player, I would definitely have finished my university studies. For me it is very important. I only have one more year from that project and I will finish it. I pretty much know what I will do after handball and I am preparing for that a little bit.
Other than handball, which sport do you like the most? Which team and/or player do you support?
I like a lot of sports. In Spain we enjoy football, basketball, tennis because we have very good teams. The Spanish national teams in football and basketball are great, and we have Rafael Nadal in tennis. I love watching every sport in television.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love spending time with my family. They are the most important in my life. I like traveling with them, we enjoy traveling to other countries. We like visiting beautiful beaches all around the world. We were in the Maldives last time, Hawaii was great and San Francisco also. Other than that, I love listening to music, watch films.
Which is the prettiest city you have ever been to?
For me the most beautiful city is Budapest with the Duna River cutting the city in half. We visited Prague, with my family not so long ago, it was also breathtaking. Outside of Europe, I have to say San Francisco.
What is your dream car?
I do not care much about cars. I like big cars like the Rovers. If you have family that is the most important.
What do you fear the most?
I fear the jellyfishes in the water when I am swimming. I fear that it stings me, it hurts.
What is your motto?
Enjoy the little things. One day you may look back and realize that those were the big things.
Are there any skills you wish you had learned?
I wish I could teleport. It takes a lot of time to fly, so it would definitely make my life easier.
