Another round ended in VELUX EHF Champions’ League group round and there are two games left. MVM Veszprém gained a 2-goal victory over PPD Zagreb and has still the chance to be the group winner.
On Wednesday the tournament continued in Group A; THW Kiel hosted the team of Orlen Wisla Plock 3 days after they had been defeated by their German rival Flensburg with 10 goals. Plock had a more aggressive start and their goalkeeper gave an excellent performance. Later on, Kiel seemed to be more dynamic and ended the first half with a draw. In the second half, the teams performed equally but the Polish team took a 2-goal lead 6 minutes before the end. Then, goalkeeper Niklas Landin boosted his teammates and saved two penalties, while Domagoj Duvnjak led the defense of the “zebras”. Kiel won in the end thanks to Dominik Klein’s last goal who said it was an important goal for him. The home team’s coach, Alfred Gislason found this victory a victory of power and luck and added that there are no easy winnings – especially with their injured players. According to Coach Manolo Cadenas, his team would have deserved a draw.

On Saturday, PSG Handball hosted the team of Besiktas Mogaz and the match ended as it had been expected: the 12-goal victory of the home team. On the home side, Omeyer saved 17 shots, while Hanssen scored 10 goals and Nikola Karabatic 7 goals. In the guest team, Darko Djukic turned out to be the most productive player with 11 scores.

Flensburg played against Celje which proved to be a hard opponent as they had been expected. The home team started well and they succeeded in taking a 3-goal lead over the German team by the end of the first half. In the second half, however, everything changed. Flensburg found the way to stop Zarabec, their offense system became more precise and goalkeeper Kevin Möller replacing Mattias Andersson performed great. By 21-21 the German team closed up a bit but the Slovenian team increased the gap. Then, Flensburg equalized again, overtook and gained a 4-goal victory.
